Cherry Tomatoes

Cherry tomatoes can be classified as determinate or indeterminate. Determinate varieties grow on bush-like plants with short vines and bear just one crop per season. Indeterminate varieties are long-vined plants. They will bear fruit continuously throughout the season. Most indeterminate cherry tomatoes are heirloom varieties.

As there are dozens of cherry tomato varieties available, the size and colors will vary but generally cherry tomatoes are globe-shaped and weigh about a half ounce to one ounce each. The perfect cherry tomato will be firm, thin and smooth-skinned and it will have excellent flavor and juiciness, balancing acid and sweetness perfectly.
